About Hemingway Home & Museum

Ernest Hemingway's former Key West home is famous for its colony of polydactyl cats, many descended from his six-toed cat Snow White. Around 60 cats still live on the grounds today.

How to get to Hemingway Home & Museum

The museum is at 907 Whitehead Street in Old Town Key West, about a 10-minute walk from Duval Street. Key West is compact and easy to explore on foot or by bike.

Entry uses timed tickets or on-site purchase depending on the day (guided or self-guided tours). Hours and prices can change by season — check the official website before you go. Midday heat is strong; water helps, and morning or late-afternoon entry can be more comfortable.

  1. Arrive in Key West by air (EYW) or ferry/road connections, then head to Old Town.
  2. From Duval Street, walk about 10 minutes to 907 Whitehead Street (Hemingway Home & Museum).
  3. Enter with a timed ticket or on-site purchase depending on the day. Tours are guided or self-guided.
  4. Walk the house and gardens slowly — the famous polydactyl cats often appear around shaded outdoor areas.
