About Happiness Maneki-neko Train (Tokyu Setagaya Line)

The Happiness Maneki-neko Train (Shiawase no Maneki-neko Densha) is a specially wrapped train on the Tokyu Setagaya Line in Tokyo. Designed with cooperation from Gotokuji Temple — widely associated with the maneki-neko legend — the exterior and interior are filled with beckoning-cat motifs: cat-shaped straps, paw-print floors, and cat-ear details on the front of the train.

The train runs along the entire Setagaya Line between Sangenjaya and Shimotakaido. If you are combining a ride with a visit to Gotokuji Temple, Miyanosaka Station on this line is the nearest stop — about a five-minute walk to the temple.

The train runs along the full Tokyu Setagaya Line between Sangenjaya and Shimotakaido. To reach the line, take the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line or Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line to Sangenjaya Station, or use other stations along the Setagaya Line.

Visited August 2026

August 12, 2026 — went to Miyanosaka Station after the rain, just after a typhoon. The timetable is listed by departures from Sangenjaya, so arrival times at Miyanosaka are a bit hard to read. By chance, the Happiness Maneki-neko Train arrived soon after I got there, and I was able to take photos.
