Taketomi, Japan
Taketomijima
A Yaeyama island of white-sand paths and traditional Ryukyu village scenery — cats in the lanes are a pleasant bonus, not the main draw.
About Taketomijima
A small island near Ishigaki in Okinawa, famous for preserved Ryukyu village streets, water buffalo carts, and turquoise seas. It is not a dedicated "cat island," but cats can often be spotted resting in the shade along sandy paths and quiet village lanes.
