This is the first part of my workation in Luang Prabang, Laos.
It includes the train journey, walking through the town, meeting cats, and a slightly unexpected incident.
From Vientiane to Luang Prabang

I traveled from Vientiane to Luang Prabang by train.
I did a little bit of work on the train, but the scenery outside the window was beautiful, and it felt like we arrived very quickly.
When we arrived at the station, many taxi and bus drivers were calling out to passengers.

Among them, I chose a shared minibus. The fare was 40,000 kip, which was about $2 at the time.

The bus dropped me off near my hotel.
By the time I arrived, it was already past 7 PM, and it had become quite dark.
My First Hotel in Luang Prabang
The first place I stayed was Ammata Boutique Villa.

After leaving my luggage in the room, I decided to go out for a walk along the Mekong River.
The Mekong River, a Cat, and an Ant Incident
Near the riverside restaurants, I soon spotted a cat.

While I was taking photos of it, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in both legs.
When I looked down, I realized that a large group of ants had climbed up my legs and were biting me all at once.
I quickly brushed them off and managed to escape the situation,
but I had never seen ants climb that fast in such numbers.
After walking a little further, I found a restaurant with a calm atmosphere and decided to have dinner there.

The food was delicious, but extremely spicy.
Apparently, it was actually a Thai restaurant.
The End of the First Day

After dinner, I took a short walk and returned to the hotel.
Because of the travel earlier that day, I was quite tired and went to bed early.
That was more or less how my first day in Luang Prabang ended.
Coming Next (Part 2)
In the next part, I’ll write about:
- moving to another hotel
- working in cafés
- conversations with people
