Cats, beaches, and a little bit of work.
A relaxed workation in the Kuta–Legian area of Bali.
From Kuala Lumpur to Bali
I headed to Bali from Kuala Lumpur.
After boarding the plane, it didn’t move for quite a while.
Eventually an announcement came: due to maintenance, we would have to get off the plane and wait.

Even after three or four hours, there were still no signs of departure.
We were told to wait in the lounge.
I grabbed something light to eat and spent the time doing a bit of work.
In the end, the flight left seven hours late.
But since I had been focused on work, the time actually passed surprisingly quickly.
Arriving in Bali After 2 AM

I arrived in Bali a little after 2 AM.
I got into a taxi that looked slightly suspicious,
but the driver turned out to be kind and honest.
No overcharging, and I made it safely to the hotel.
When I arrived, the hotel staff member was fast asleep on a bench at the reception.
Someone managed to wake him up, and I checked in without any trouble.
I was exhausted, so I went straight to sleep.
Morning in Legian
The next morning, I opened the window and saw blue sky.

The humidity wasn’t too heavy, and the morning air felt very comfortable.
I did a little bit of work before starting the day.

This time I stayed at Bliss Surfer Hotel Legian.
As the name suggests, it seems to be a hotel popular with surfers.
I received a welcome drink at the restaurant beside the pool.

Walking Around Kuta & Legian — and the First Cat

While walking around the area near the hotel,
I spotted a cat sitting at the entrance of a guesthouse.

After that, I continued toward Kuta Beach.

At the beach, I ordered a coconut water and took a break.
While sitting there, about ten different people approached me one after another offering surfing lessons.
Traveling alone, I was a little worried about leaving my belongings unattended.
Also… I didn’t really want to get my hair wet.
Still, maybe next time I’ll try it.
Anyone want to come with me?
Beachwalk Shopping Center

I walked to Beachwalk Shopping Center and had lunch there.
The place is clean and stylish,
but it doesn’t feel particularly “Bali-like.”
After that, I headed toward a workspace I had been curious about.

Along the way, I ran into several more cats.
Working Slowly at a Local Workspace

When I arrived at the workspace, the staff were preparing for an event.
Because of that, food wasn’t available.
But drinks were fine, so I decided to stay and work anyway.

They even lent me a power strip,
and the staff were very friendly.
It was a comfortable place, and I ended up working there until sunset.

At one point, a black cat appeared under my table.
I managed to take a photo.
For some reason, it felt like a small bonus.

Interestingly, the place seemed to have several different names.
On Google Maps it was listed as Warung Happy Riverside Legian.
On the menu it said corkspacebali.
And on the sign outside, it said KEDAI NIANG.
I’m still not sure which one is the real name.
Next time, the story continues in Ubud.
